The USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences has received full accreditation for three of its advanced residency programs. These accreditations by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) affirm the school’s leadership in preparing pharmacists for high-impact roles in patient care, education and clinical research.
ASHP — the national accrediting body for all pharmacy residency programs — granted the maximum eight-year initial accreditation to the postgraduate year two (PGY2) Infectious Diseases Pharmacy Residency Program at Los Angeles General Medical Center. The program is led by Emi Minejima, USC Mann assistant professor of clinical pharmacy, an expert in infectious disease therapeutics and the responsible use of antibiotics.
The Mann School’s PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency Program at the USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center also garnered a full eight-year reaccreditation. Directed by Samantha Shi, director of pharmacy at USC Norris, the program builds expertise in leading-edge cancer care, including the latest advances in chemotherapy, immunotherapy and precision medicine.
In addition, the PGY2 Psychiatric Pharmacy Residency Program at Los Angeles General Medical Center earned continued accreditation through the remainder of its current eight-year term. Currently directed by David Dadiomov, USC Mann assistant professor of clinical pharmacy, and previously directed by Julie Dopheide, USC Mann professor of clinical pharmacy, the program offers advanced preparation for pharmacists in all practice settings of psychiatric care.
“These accreditations underscore the exceptional quality and comprehensive training provided within our pharmacy residency programs,” said Lisa M. Whittington, associate professor of clinical pharmacy and director of the residency programs at the USC Mann School. “This achievement reflects the dedication of our faculty, preceptors, staff, residents, and partners to advancing pharmacy practice and patient care.”
